Bee Swarm Removal

140924_ elke bee swarm wharf road swarm_elkeBeing springtime, I have had a lot of phone calls for the removal of bee swarms.  If a swarm of bees has just moved into your garden or are hanging like a big bunch of grapes off a fence or tree or wall, we can often house that bee swarm into a new hive and give it to one of our new beekeepers.  If you are in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, feel free to call me on: 0410 456 404.

If you are in another part of Sydney or NSW, the first thing to do is go to the Amateur Beekeepers Association website: http://www.beekeepers.asn.au/aspx/public.aspx .  Enter your postcode, and you will be put in touch with a local beekeeper in your area who may be able to come and take the bees away.

I am the secretary of the Sydney Bee Club and I have a list of new beekeepers who are keen to get a swarm so they can start out.

It is important to get onto swarms quickly, so that they don’t take up permanent residence where you might not want them to.

When bees are ‘swarming’ they are looking for a new home, and not very keen on stinging you; but it can be quite daunting with so many bees around.

If you have a swarm that is in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, then please feel free to give me a call: 0410 456 404.
